Christian Crap
The Apostle Paul had the right attitude about self-righteousness - dung. Yes, that's right. Dung is another word for crap and sh?t. Sadly, so many professing Christians are trained right back into a self-righteous attitude after they get saved.
Man has a natural propensity towards self-righteousness in the first place. But combine that with personal preferences or traditions taught from mis-use of the scriptures and you have the recipe for a judgmental spirit. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking this is righteous judgment.
Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, knew exactly what self-righteousness was worth and how to count it.
Phil 3:4-9 “Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:”
Too many Christians hide their self-righteous and judgmental attitude behind Christ's admonition to judge righteous judgment. But to judge when there is not sufficient scriptural revelation on a given subject is a violation of Paul's instruction to believers.
(Romans 14:4, 10, 13 KJV) “4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. 10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.”
Believers are often judged because they do things differently than someone has become accustomed to or taught. Christian culture is not the basis of judging what others do. Just because Christian's don't do things the way you think they should be done doesn't mean that they are not spiritual or right with God.
Glad to be among God’s misfits and thank God for His grace each day!
